It needs a second look to notice what has been missing at the Malzfabrik entrance for several weeks now: The two prominent entrance lights on the piers.

These were taken from their usual place together with the deconstruction of the intermediate roof in mid-January. Both projects are funded by the Deutsche Stiftung Denkmalschutz and urgently needed a comprehensive re-do.

The two light-covers were brought to the Wittstock firm Partenheimer which has already refurbished the Darrhauben. There they are sandblasted, repainted and the yellow glass repaired or replaced. In any case there is no change in shape, the lights will return with the exact same classic look.

The related construction work - the excavation and laying of a functioning power cable - starts in April. On the occasion of the open ground we will get the renewal of the old drains underway as well.

We have to remain patient until summer. But one thing is certain: bright times ahead!
