A matter of heart

The current situation of the refugees is present in all news and media channels. Every day we receive new information, facts and figures - not easy to keep track.

Whether clothing, donations or activities, there are many areas where help is needed. Berlin is a large city and there are countless ways to help. The Malzfabrik Team wanted to get involved too. After much research and many meetings we finally found the shelter in the Teske School in Tempelhof-Schöneberg, organized and run by TAMAJA social services.

Thanks to a guided tour of the old building and many stories it became apparent to us that we wanted to help there. The bright basement room with five large windows and nearly 53 sqm had lots of potential and became our Teske project. The old school floor was sanded and refinished, the walls primed, painted and partly plastered. Day after day the room changed from an old left-behind basement room into a true gem.

With all the helping hands from the team we created a small library which now serves as a reading room and lounge for 280 refugees.

More rooms are being planned to make life in the former school more enjoyable.

We want to keep up the support for the refugee shelter in the future as a small contribution to improving the current situation.
