In summer of 2012 Felix Stumpf realized the practical part of his master thesis "AUF DER WEISSENSEE" at the Department of Spatial Strategies of the Art Academy Berlin-Weissensee. He designed and constructed a raft made of wood and plastic barrels, and then traveled the rivers and canals of Berlin for several weeks.

Inspired by Guy Debord's theory of the dérive and the psychogeography of the "Situationist International", he examined the emergence of social situations that happened during his explorations either by invitation or by spontaneous interaction with his environment.

At the core of his research-based artistic work stood the raft as an autonomous, independent space to be defined as leisure area, water taxi, living room or stage where musicians and performance artists can take advantage of its multiple uses.

The entire project was accompanied and documented with a video camera, that was mounted perpendicularly above the raft surface. In an exhibition at the gallery of the District Arts and Cultural Promotion on the Malzfabrik, Felix Stumpf presents the multi-faceted results of his work with a site-specific video installation.
