Here comes the sequel to the dismounting of the knight-kilns, which was successfully completed in very fine sunny weather conditions on October 19th. After the helmets were removed from the chimneys, they still remained in the courtyard for a couple of days, looking like giant relics of dinosaurs.
To get the two-ton hoods ready for transport, they had to be disassembled first. Currently the seperate pieces are in a steel workshop in Wittstock, where they are sandblasted, repaired and re-coated. We will document the entire workshop process with the camera as well.
But first a little film of the removal from October 19th 2012 you can watch here>>. It remains exciting!
