MoTiMaru Butoh Dance

Butoh Dance was born in Japan in the 60's and 70's. It represents one of the most meaningful reality of the 20th centurury performing art history. Typically it involes playful and grotesque imagery, taboo topics, extreme or absurd environments. Generally it is perfomed with slow hyper-controlled motion, however, there is no set style, and it may be purely conceptual with no movement at all. The Japanese dance legends Tatsumi Hijikata and Kazuo Ohno have been two important revolutionaries of the Butoh Dance style.

Motimaru Butoh Dance is a young group of two butoh dancers, Tiziana Longo and Motoya Kondo. Next to giving butoh dance workshops they also stand out through their brilliant dance performances. Come and see for yourself when Motimaru presents a short performance on our next Malznight. We also would like to invite you to come and see their next dance at the Venezia Biennal Festival 2010 " Shirokurochan" premiere in the Brotfabrik in Berlin on November the 25th,26th and 27th November 2010 at 21:00.
